KEN METZ BIO

Ken is the founder and sole proprietor of Picky Print Production, Inc. In January 2004, he revamped Picky Print Production from Freelance Print Producer to Print Broker, buying and selling printing. In an effort to shatter the much-maligned myth that print brokers are notoriously expensive and unnecessary extravagances, he created the title “Print Partner”. This simple modification to the advertising and marketing vernacular has helped change the perspective of print brokers in today’s fast-paced print buying environment.
During the past two years Ken has used his skills as a reputable Print Partner to manage projects in a range of media including outdoor advertising, brochures, catalogs, stationery, magazines and press kits for a client base comprised of advertising and entertainment agencies, corporate marketing departments, design firms, film festivals, manufactures, media buying agencies and publishers.
Prior to reinventing Picky Print, Ken was the Director of MetroMedia’s Los Angeles OnePrint Division, where he worked closely with the Account Directors to establish a one-stop shopping environment for outdoor print buyers in the Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas and Denver. Prior to working with MetroMedia Ken developed a client perspective study suggesting better ways for the company at large to communicate with their clients. In addition, Ken brought to MetroMedia a fresh approach to selling multiple disciplines to seasoned print buyers.
Ken has worked with some of the most prominent agencies in the world of advertising, including Saatchi & Saatchi, TBWA/Chiat Day, Foote Cone & Belding, Suissa Miller, Team One Advertising, Versus and The Cimarron Group on accounts such as; Toyota, Nissan, Infiniti, Acura, Lexus, Air New Zealand, eNutrition, Diesel Footwear, Sumitomo Bank, Yonex, Verbind, Kinecta Federal Credit Union, Oralgiene, Beachnut Foods, Jenny Craig, Universal Studios Hollywood Theme Park and Universal City Walk.
Prior to moving to LA, Ken, a Chicago native, worked for Frankel & Company, Abelson-Taylor Advertising, GRI Corporation, Campbell Mithun Advertising and Bentley Barnes & Lynn Advertising producing collateral, print ads and outdoor advertising materials on accounts such as; 360 Communications, Abbott Lab’s, Barton Brands, Bob Evans Sausage, Chicago Clean Streak, Corona Beer, ERA Realty, Epson Computers and Printers, Ford, G.D. Searle, Harris Bank, Humana Hospitals, John Nuveen, Kroger Food Stores, The Larsen Company, Leaps and Bounds, Marion Merrill Dow, Masonite, McDonald’s, Mezcal, Midway Airlines, Miles Laboratories, Monte Alban Tequila, Oldsmobile, Petsmart, Rape Victim Advocates, S.A.V.E. Continuity Club, Seiko Consumer Products, Squibb, Tap Pharmaceutical, Supercuts, World of Beauty Continuity Club and Visa.
Ken is an active member of the APALA (Advertising Production Association of Los Angeles) and won a Belding while working on the Lexus GS print campaign at Team One Advertising in 2000. When he’s not reinventing himself or his company, he collects mid-century antiques, otherwise know as 50’s kitsch. He also loves independent film and attends several film festivals throughout the year.
